Use in my therapy sessions!
By Educational Therapist
Stone Soup is a great game built around recipes. The colors are vibrant and it holds a high interest level for my 5-9 year old clients. I use this game specifically towards the goals of following directions and understanding sequencing. This is a good addition to any multi-sensory approach teaching environment for early elementary students...and it is fun!
A GREAT cooperative game for elementary children!
By theteacherswife
Stone Soup is a great educational game & I highly recommend it! It is my husband's favorite cooperative game for his 2nd grade classroom! Instead of playing against each other in competition- you have to work as a team to play together and win. This is such an essential, yet hard-to-come by lesson for kids! The game is brightly colored and attractive to children, and very simple to understand. This educational game helps kids work on matching, teamwork, and more! I highly recommend this game. In fact my husband's elementary school just bought several of the Stone Soup board games! It even comes with the Stone Soup story!
Way Fun Cooperative Game!!!

I played this with my 7 year old nephew and we both had a lot of fun working together finding all the ingredients for the soup. The fire cards add some fun in trying to get all the ingredients before you turn all the fire cards over. The directions are really easy to understand and the game set up is really quick so you can start playing right away. I definitely recommend this game for kids 4 and up.
Great Counseling Game!
By D. Embree
I have used this game a lot as a school counselor. The kids seem to like another cooperative matching game, The Secret Door, a little bit more than Stone Soup. This seems to be just a matter of theme preference than anything as the games are very similar. But Stone Soup has much better construction, and it is more straightforward so children are more likely to follow the rules with this game. Overall, it is an excellent cooperative game that helps children learn to work as a team and follow directions. Would definitely recommend the game to anyone!
Nice cooperative game for K-2 students
By Kamabo
I use this game in my work as an elementary school counsellor, and I find that it's enjoyable for kids between K and grade 2. Many of them don't know the story of Stone Soup, so luckily there's a short version of it included on a leaflet inside the box. The story sometimes raises some young eyebrows: "He was tricking them into sharing!?"
This game is essentially "Memory," but players work together to find pairs of soup ingredients to add to the pot, before they turn over all of the "fire out" cards that would end the game. Finding the Magic Stone card is protection against a "fire out" card. I've never seen a pair of students lose at this game, but there's certainly some built in frustration in terms of drawing "fire out" cards or not being able to find a match. I think it makes a good game for children with delicate self-esteem. Seeing little ones light up with pride every time they find a match is kind of lovely.
Very good quality, colourful, cutely-illustrated game board and pieces, although the area where you lay out all the cards is a bit squishy for little hands to work within, and there doesn't feel like quite enough space for the pairs of 'ingredient cards' to all fit within the outline of the soup pot. Not a reason not to purchase but just an idea for future versions to address. Basically it's Memory with a twist, so it's kind of bland, but the quality of the game makes me bump it up from 3 to 4 stars.
